Karl Berger's Improviser's Orchestra

El Taller, 2710 Broadway (at 104th), New York, New York

Karl Berger's Improvisers Orchestra is a 25+ players’ ensemble of extraordinary professional improvisers. Conducted in Karl’s inimitable style, developed at the legendary Creative Music Studio, this orchestra explores original themes, melodies from the world’s folk traditions, compositions by Don Cherry or Ornette Coleman, as well as musical ideas that arise spontaneously in solo/duo/trio contributions by the players. Karl introduces a new approach and experience of blending and harmonizing improvised sound. One of the orchestra's trademarks is Ingrid Sertso’s uncanny vocalization and poetry. Our last New York performance this season, promises to be an exceptional one, with violist Jason Hwang, trumpeters Steven Bernstein and Herb Robertson, and vocalist Tom Buckner joining in. The complete list of players on January 10 includes:Ingrid Sertso, Tom Buckner, vocals, Warren Smith, drums, Ken Filiano, Hill Greene, bass,  Peter Apfelbaum, tenor sax and flute, Steven Bernstein, Herb Robertson, Thomas Heberer, trumpet, Kenny Wessel, Harvey Valdes, guitar, John Ehlis, mandolin, Frederika Krier, Sana Nagano, Fung Chern Hwei, violins, Jason Hwang, Nicole Federici, viola, Adam Fisher, cello, Ed Rollin, oboe, Sylvain Leroux, fula flute, Ken Ya Kawaguchi, shakuhachi , Yatsuno Katsuki , euphonium, Blaise Siwula, Miguel Malla, Jason Candler, clarinet, Avram Fefer, bass clarinet, Patrick Brennan, Mercedes Figueras, alto sax, Hollis Headrick, John Pietaro, percussion.
