The trio with Blaise Siwula reeds, Luciano Troja piano and John Murchison bass is a long running collaboration of intertwining groups meeting in New York. The music is improvisational and spontaneously composed. Luciano Troja has been visiting NYC over the past 7years from Messina, Italyduring which time two cds were released with Blaise and guitarist Giancarlo Mazzu. (“D’istante3” and “Sometimes the Journey is a Vision”). The recent release on NoFrillsMusic – “Beneath the Ritual” Features bassist John Murchison with Luciano and Blaise.The musical vocabulary of this trio is in constant expansion with Luciano’s studies of Earl Zindar and Bill Evans, John’s Ganawan and Sun Ra groups and Blaise’s free jazz temperament combined with varying degrees of dynamics, melody and energy.The show tonight is a celebration of “Beneath the Ritual”.
